‘Man of Steel’ Producer Lloyd Phillips Dead at 63
Lloyd Phillips, Academy Award winner and film producer, has died.
With a 32-year career in the movie business, Phillips was a producer whose credits included Inglourious Basterds, Twelve Monkeys, The Edge, The Legend of Zorro, The International and The Tourist. He was also a producer of this year’s forthcoming Superman reboot, Man of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder.
Phillips was born in South Africa, but raised in New Zealand. He became the latter country’s first-ever Oscar winner with his 1981 short film, The Dollar Bottom.
Phillips died on Jan. 25 in Los Angeles after suffering a heart attack. He was 63. He is survived by his wife and fellow film producer, Beau St. Clair.
