12 Monkeys vs Pi? That's really difficult. Both were highly original and it's difficult to choose. I'm going to go with Pi but only because it's has a really good soundtrack.

Pi is a great, awesome independent movie, but it is unfair to compare it to Terry Gilliam's arguable masterpiece. It is his most emotional, beautiful work. Aronofsky would go on to make many more incredible films, and Pi will always remain a wonderful prelude to his badass career. if it were Black Swan the debate would be much fiercer.

I don't think Pi was that good actually. I mean it was an interesting premise but the movie didn't know what to do with itself. 12 Monkeys wins easily.
