Worst Pixar movie ever. Not funny, no likable characters and men are portrayed horrible. Pixar is falling apart.

I completely disagree. I thought it was one of Pixar's funniest movies, and I feel like Mei and her friend group were likable because they're very believable 13 year old girls. Are they loud and borderline obnoxious at times? Yes, but that's what being a teenager is for both boys and girls. And her father Jin gets one of the most touching moments (and one of the funniest moments) of the movie, and Tyler gets immediately brought into their friend group, even after all their past issues, at the end of the movie (even getting his own friendship bracelet). So they're not portrayed any more "horrible" than women often are in other male-centric movies. Pixar is, in my opinion, as exciting as it has ever been, and it's in large part thanks to exciting new talents like Domee Shi.

The dad is the most respectable character in the entire movie, so I have to disagree with the whole "men are portrayed horrible." The whole plot is driven by the main character's love of boys, you can't possibly believe that unless you have an agenda... Just because it's from a female perspective doesn't mean it hates men lol.

I honestly don't know how I feel about this movie. It's funny and Mei is a good protagonist, but the side characters are whatever, and the emotional moments are weakened by this movie's overly hyperactive and obnoxious tone. I feel like the messages of generational trauma and being an overbearing parent are done better in Encanto and Finding Nemo, respectively. Overall, it's not terrible, but it's not very good either, and I can see why people dislike this movie.

It starts off as a nice message about puberty, and you'd think that her turning into an angry panda once a month is a thin metaphor for a period
Turns out she turns into a panda at will and she literally beats the bad guy (her mom) by twerking and drawing porn

This is a very interesting movie to talk about. On the one hand, the mother character is too stupid that she almost kills any potential of the movie. But the third act has creative ideas and was also pretty fun. The idea is also a pretty good idea and it's a shame the first two thirds of the movie are not executed well because the turmoil the main character goes through is a great idea but it's not executed well as I said earlier. Like I said this is an interesting movie to talk about.

I’d say it was a pretty good movie, not the best, but it wasnt bad either. It got a bit weird on certain parts. Like with Mei-Mei’s nightmare scene, and I feel like it was too cheesy with some of the expressions. (Yes, that’s the point, but sometimes it came off as a bit cringy) Although, in the end the movie made up for itself. I ended up almost bawling my eyes out when Mei Mei started becoming emotional, and talking about certain things I could relate to. Like accepting your flaws and being your own person. Because, it’s something I’ve struggled with to this day. Another thing about movies I especially like to point out is the soundtrack. I think it added more portrayal of emotion on whatever scene was currently playing, and it was nice to listen to. The style was also something I’m surprised I took a liking to, because normally I don’t like the irregular head shapes, with chubby body parts. Another thing to note, I think the team did a great job with the concept of the Red Panda. With the way they portrayed the backstory like a storybook was really interesting. It helped me connect with my inner self a bit more. Overall, I mostly enjoyed this. Would definitely rewatch again!
