How big of a deal is it that Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is the worst film to come out of the Wizarding World? Well, what if I told you that Johnny Depp isn't even the biggest problem with this movie? Yeah, this is what we're dealing with.

2018 movie #26: Fantastic Beasts: Crimes Of Grindelwald. This review is going to be a bit longer than my other 2018 movie reviews on this site as I have a lot to say (still keeping it spoiler free). From early reactions and from what I gathered from the movie, this is going to be really love it or hate it... well, that doesn’t apply to me because I’m just meh on it. The cast and production is so good that I can’t really hate the film but the script is really poorly written. First problem is the pacing. It’s far too slow, 80% is tedious expositional dialogue and there’s a lot of sequences that’s “I’m mad at you because I think you’re engaged” or “I’m mad at you because you think I’m crazy” that isn’t what I personally want from a wizarding movie. It’s also convoluted; there’s about 12 characters that serve as a main character (No exaggeration, don’t believe me see the poster) and apart from 3 they’re either pointless or only serve as a plot device. One character gets an entire backstory in flashbacks (which is the worst section of the film) but only really exists so three characters can have their own revelations. There’s so many plot threads and characters that it doesn’t know what to balance and there’s a lot of plot holes. One of these plot holes is prominent in the trailer and when people started telling JK about it her response was “there’s going to be three more films after this we will get to that”. And believe or not, there’s a couple moments in the film which is either vague or makes no sense and the only excuse for it is because “there’s going to be three more films” and so far that’s a bad thing. 5/10.

I liked the part where the wizards started using the force, and how they can morph into the wall like X-Men. 3/10 Only Dumbledore kept this movie afloat.

If this were a dumbledore solo film, it would get a 10/10

To be completely honest here, my friend; I never saw a Harry Potter movie before, so yeah that's my first one. I had no expectations, and I was just dragged into the cinema because someone wanted a companion. I considered to not add this movie, because I didn't care for anything and I couldn't get the references. At the end of the day, I just decided to rank it. For some reason. I can actually remember it very well, but it just made no sense for me. At least, if I considered to watch the first movie before. But whatever. It's at the extreme bottom of my chart, and there it'll remain.
